Mitzvah Day 2010

Thank you to everyone who took part.

Heres to more next year...!

On the 21st November
Mill Hill Youth took part in MITZVAH DAY.
With great thanks to Steven Dansky, Michele Levy and our incredible youth, who helped by working in a fantastic, ecologically friendly garden in LSJS. The vegetables picked and sourced were given to GIFT - a Jewish charity that supports those who are struggling to make ends meet - to distribute among needy families in the local Jewish community.
Over 30 youth, teens and a few parents joined up to help all of the Mill Hill Community. In partnership with Barnet Council, we met the park ranger and he instructed us how and the park needed some help. As the park is much bigger than most realise, we went into the less public areas and cleaned up trash over a large area of land. The park ranger was thrilled with our efforts and told us if we hadn’t come along to help, these areas are often left aside, as they are not part of the used public space.
Here are some photos when we went to Mill Hill Park:

On Mitzvah Day this year over 100 children and their families descended on Mathilda Marks school to take part in a variety of activities.
Planting bulbs of hope, to raise awareness of Marie Curie Cancer Care, in flower beds around the school and in mini pots to give to someone special.
Beautiful cards were made to say thank you to the Armed Forces in Israel and the UK.
Residents at Sydmar Lodge and Mill Hill JACS were recipients of Chanukah cards.
Lots of smiles, balloons and fun for all and doing a mitzvah at the same time. . .
Thanks to everyone who took part!
